A Brazilian by birth, Guto Bussab moved to South Africa in 1994, the year Mandela came to power. He is now a permanent resident of this country. Guto is a multidisciplinary artist, having produced a body of work as a film director, editor, photographer and musician. Having worked in the advertising industry for many years, Guto won prestigious international accolades at the Cannes International Advertising Festival, New York Festivals and London Awards. As a stills photographer, Guto has published material in magazines, advertising agencies and books including "A prisoner in the Garden" (Penguin), "Number Four" (Penguin"). As a fine artist, he has exhibited at TheMutiGallery (solo show, 2006), HotSpots Rotterdam Film Festival (Post Whites Only, curated by Aryan Kaganof, 2005) and Art Extra (Aftermath, group show 2008). Guto Bussab is the founder and owner of Muti, a parent brand for Muti Films (film production), Muti Service (film servicing in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Luanda, São Paulo), Muti Photography (commercial photography) and TheMutiGallery (contemporary art gallery).
